San Francisco 49ers Utilize Flash Seats® for Cheerleader and Draft Parties

veritix | April 28, 2011

The 2011 NFL Draft is scheduled for New York’s Radio City Music Hall and over the next three days, players from the college ranks will know if they have a chance to compete at the highest level.  For NFL fans, the Draft is a time when hope springs eternal – new, young players that have the potential of further developing their team. At Veritix®, we are excited for this year’s Draft because our newest partner, the San Francisco 49ers, have 12 picks in 8 rounds (the most of any team). The first round begins tonight and the team will be hosting a Draft Day party at the Santa Clara Convention Center for fans to watch as they select the newest additions to the organization, starting with the 7th overall pick.

Tickets for tonight’s party have been sold entirely via our patented Flash Seats® digital platform and all of the proceeds from the over 2,600 Niners fans expected to attend will be donated to Japan’s earthquake and tsunami relief efforts. Tonight’s Draft party will not mark the first time we have worked with the 49ers this year. In late March, the team opened up their Gold Rush Cheerleader auditions to the public for the first time in franchise history and turned to Veritix® to assist with ticketing for that event as well.  Over 230 fans conveniently entered the tryouts by simply swiping their credit card at the gates and watched as 75 finalists auditioned for one of 32 coveted spots on the 2011 squad.

Both of these events have presented great opportunities for us to demonstrate the Flash Seats® technology in the NFL, further expanding our product across major sports leagues.  The San Francisco 49ers have a rich football history and we are honored to partner with them to provide ticketing services.

Best of luck to the 49ers and the young men who will soon be donning the red and gold!

Real Salt Lake Eyes FIFA Club World Cup

veritix | April 22, 2011

Some call it soccer, some call it futbol. Whatever you call it, there’s no denying that next week’s CONCACAF tournament match-up between Real Salt Lake and Monterrey will capture the eyes of many.  The match’s outcome will determine whether or not the first ever MLS team will compete for the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan this summer.

Wednesday night, the two teams played to a 2-2 tie in the 89th minute of the match in Monterrey, Mexico. Although it was a tie, many consider it a victory for Real Salt Lake since it positioned them to earn enough points to win the CONCACAF club title.  On April 27th , the teams will square off one final time in Utah at Rio Tinto Stadium. This might prove to be a distinct advantage for Real Salt Lake, as they are victorious in their last 37 matches at home.  As long as the outcomes favor 0-0, 1-1, or a  Real Salt Lake win, the team will hoist the CONCACAF title and advance to represent the U.S. in the World Cup.

In addition to the wonderful opportunity Real Salt Lake has as a team, they also carry a great responsibility to all of the teams in Major League Soccer as a representative of the league.  All of us at  Veritix are proud to be a partner in this historic quest.

Good Luck Real Salt Lake!

Monsters and Aeros Competing for Calder Cup

veritix | April 15, 2011

With two of our clients currently in the AHL playoffs hoping to represent the Western Conference in the finals and take home the coveted Calder Cup, our office is buzzing with hockey fever!

The Lake Erie Monsters captured their first ever playoff birth in the four year history of the franchise early last week. Veritix® is the exclusive primary and secondary ticketing provider for the team and with them playing so well all season, it’s been exciting for us to see record activity on the Monsters’ Flash Seats Marketplace as the demand for tickets grow. The Monsters, who are the No. 2 seed in the North Divison, will begin post-season play with back-to-back games this weekend against the Manitoba Moose at Quicken Loans Arena in a best-of-seven, first round series.

The Houston Aeros, the AHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, are another AHL client to whom we provide primary ticketing services.  The Aeros, who previously were crowned Calder Cup Champions in 2003, are currently up 1-0 against the Peoria Rivermen in the Western Conference Playoff and will continue their playoff series tonight at 7:35 CT at Toyota Center.

We’d like to wish the best of luck to both the Monsters and Aeros,  in their quest for the 2011 Calder Cup!

George Strait Does It Right

veritix | April 8, 2011

Since the beginning of the year, there has been a lot of discussion about paperless ticketing and secondary ticket markets.  A lot of what’s been reported has portrayed both topics as troublesome and inconvenient to the many fans who attend concerts.  This proved to be far from the truth this last week, when country music legend George Strait along with friends Reba McEntire and Lee Ann Womack performed in front of a sold-out crowd at the Pepsi Center in Denver, demonstrating the true value of a superior digital ticketing platform that’s integrated with a safe, secure secondary marketplace.

Although George Strait is known for keeping traditions, he became one of a growing number of artists to embrace Flash Seats® – our patented digital ticketing platform.  The paperless system enabled over 65% of the audience at his show to conveniently enter the arena without the hassle of forgotten tickets or will call lines by simply swiping their personal ID at the gates. In addition to the convenience on the day of the concert, Flash Seats allowed fans to transfer or sell any tickets they were unable to use, creating an open system where no ticket restrictions were placed on the event.  Furthermore, fans who might have missed out on the initial on-sale, had the opportunity to buy tickets off of the Flash Seats marketplace – which is fully endorsed by the Pepsi Center and TicketHorse.

The direct correlation between giving fans options and providing convenience translated into the most activity on the Flash Seats marketplace for any show in Denver to date. Because our platform possesses the flexibility of coupling ticket transferability, venue entry, and a marketplace all in one, we anticipate that we’ll be seeing more and more promoters, venues, and artists embracing Flash Seats and its capabilities.

Congratulations to the Pepsi Center and our partner TicketHorse on such a successful show!

Texas A&M Lady Aggies Make History

veritix | April 6, 2011

What may have surprised many followers of women’s basketball last night was something we have been rooting for all season. Texas A&M defeated Notre Dame in the NCAA Women’s Championship Game and took home their first ever national title.  The Lady Aggies were led by senior Danielle Adams and junior Tyra White.  Adams tallied 30 points, the second highest total ever in an NCAA Women’s Final, while White chipped in with 18 points and a clutch late game three pointer.

Throughout the tournament, the Lady Aggies basketball team ignored critics and exemplified teamwork in each and every round.  Impressive wins over Baylor and Stanford catapulted the team into the Final.  In the end, perseverance paid off as the Lady Aggies will bring back their first ever national championship to Reed Arena.  A rally is scheduled for today at 2pm to welcome home the 2011 Women’s National Champions.

It was a memorable season for the Lady Aggies and truly was an honor for all of us at Veritix to be the ticketing provider of Reed Arena and Texas A&M University.
